Yes, it's cold outside now. The last thing on your mind might be April. But spring will be here sooner than you think. As with every season, there are certain ‘it’ items this spring for the fashionable guy.
I’ve taken into consideration that not every man can pull off every article of clothing that comes down the runway. Here are some wearable spring fashion trends for men that you can start planning ahead for.
Double-breasted jackets: Just when you thought it was all about the single-breasted. Things for spring have brought about a change. Now, the style is double-breasted jackets in a slim cut. The look doesn’t have to be as formal as you think. For a casual yet crisp look, wear a quality t-shirt. Also tone down with a pair of jeans or linen pants.
Plaid ties: Just don’t wear over your equally trendy plaid shirt. Plaid ties in all colors of the rainbow are in for the spring. They can be worn with your average white dress shirt—for those days when you feel like being noticed. Bow ties are still in, so if you have followed this trend why not get a couple in plaid.
Suede buck shoes: Yes, they are still considered the footwear that screams ‘it’s spring.’ In all types of colors. Or you can stick to traditional brown or beige. Either way bucks are a pair of shoes to add some variety to your spring wardrobe. One trend is to pair with a nice suit—mixing formal with a bit of the relaxed.
Linen: Don’t bother to pull out the iron, as the look is the wrinkly the better. You can buy an entire linen suit or some mix and match jackets and pants—not to mention a couple of linen shirts and shorts.
Leather mandals: One cardinal rules with mandals, skip the white socks. You’ll find a range of simple criss-cross toe patterns to simple slip-ons. However, buy a pair that suggests that you are not heading to the beach. You’ll want mandals that can be worn with a pair of linen pants or dress shorts.
The baseball jacket: This time without the insignia of your favorite baseball team. This spring you’ll find baseball jackets made out of all types of material: cotton, silk, suede, leather. And in a variety of colors beside traditional blue. Wear with a pair of jeans, shorts, or khakis.
Stripes and checks: Not just for shirts, but you’ll find colorful and bold checks on jackets, shorts, and pants. The style suggests you divide your time between the city and your summer house.
Denim: Denim jeans that are popular this spring come in every other color but blue or black. What’s in are gray, white, and light blue denim jeans. You can wear with a colorful t-shirt to offset the muted color of your jeans. And there seems to be no killing the trend of skinny jeans for men (but you don’t have to comply!).
